This picture was taken at Pasos malos. A small stream of cold water near Villa de Merlo. The village is a small city in the middle of Argentina.
January first, 1797 - At the order of marquess Sobremonte, commander Juan de Videla funds Villa de Melo in memory of Don Pedro de Melo of Portugal, Viceroy of Río de la Plata. Years later the city takes the name of Merlo instead of the original Melo because of the bad calligraphy in the foundation document.
The ceremony took place at the Capilla de Nuestra señora del Rosario, which is today a national monument. The chapel sits in front of Sobremonte square.
